The hammer has been broken and Apple has confirmed that the iPhone will now have a USB Type-C connection on all devices sold in Europe.. Confirmation of the Cupertino manufacturer came during an interview with Greg Joswiak, vice president of worldwide marketing, given to The Wall Street Journal. The confusion began last year when the European Union planned to implement a new regulation that would apply to all devices.
“Europeans who dictate the time to European clients. By fall 2024, all cell phones and tablets will need to use USB-C.”
After the European Union reached an agreement that USB Type-C would become a European standard, Apple was left with no choice but to give in to the economic bloc’s demand. While it has been confirmed that iPhones sold in the Old Continent will have a different charging port than the one we currently see, this decision did not seem to please the manufacturer’s representatives.

When asked if Apple would adopt the EU-approved standard, the company’s vice president of marketing said categorically: “Obviously, we’ll have to agree. We don’t have a choice.” The stance shows that the decision will be reluctantly followed by the Cupertino-based tech giant, which does not yet have a launch date for the first devices with the new charging port.
“European bodies that dictate the rules for European clients. By fall 2024, all mobile phones and tablets will be required to use a USB-C connection,” the vice president replied. During the interview, he explained at length that Apple chose to go its own way and create a single charging standard for devices instead of using hardware standards defined by regulations.

Among the arguments he also tried to make was the fact that replacing the charger cable would result in a lot of e-waste.. This is because iPhone and tablet users who already have a charging cable for different versions of the device need to get rid of this material in order to be able to use the new cable required by the European Union.
Recognizing the need to adapt to regulatory requirements, Apple may be preparing the first devices with USB Type-C connectivity. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the company is already working on getting iPhones with the new charging port to launch in 2023. The information has yet to be confirmed by the Cupertino company, although it has officially told The Washington Post that it will happen sooner or later to comply with the rules.
