Journalists of the portal cited a knowledgeable source that Apple discovered and fixed the CVE-2022-42827 vulnerability. The bug, fixed by engineers, allowed unauthorized access to Apple smartphones and tablets, according to experts. The required patch appeared in the iOS 16.1 and iPadOS 16 updates.

The material states that the vulnerability found can be exploited by hackers on iPhone 8, fifth-generation iPad, iPad Pro, iPad Air 3, fifth-generation iPad mini and newer devices. According to journalists, this means that for literally millions of devices of the American brand there is a serious problem.

According to the source, the vulnerability was found by an independent technical expert – the insider received a bonus of one million dollars, which Apple paid for the discovery of CVE-2022-42827. Journalists noted that in the incomplete 2022, the American company discovered and eliminated at least eight zero-day vulnerabilities.
