The American company Zoom has begun to disconnect its Russian customers, especially high ones, from its video service.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by the Vedomosti newspaper, citing three Russian sources in the industry.
According to the publication’s interlocutor, his company in the video conferencing space was approached by a “big man” who was disconnected from Zoom despite paying for the service until November. According to the newspaper, this could be the Kazan branch of the Russian State University of Justice. Another source claims that Zoom has refused to serve two more Russian universities.
Earlier, in April 2021, Roskomnadzor advised Russians to switch to using native software.
At the beginning of October this year, Russian information and analytics agency TelecomDaily reported that 77% of Russians use the American Zoom service for video conferencing.
