Today, the information focus in relation to Twitter is undoubtedly Elon Musk’s first step at the head of the company. And of course, that’s completely understandable, because it seems we’ve already reached, or almost reached, the point and end of a soap opera that’s been going on for months and that started with good words and will soon end up in court. It was already known and confirmed that Musk’s first relevant decision was to fire the company’s top executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal, with whom he had clashed on the social network during those months.

However, and despite the fact that everyone is talking about it today (I repeat, for all sorts of reasons), today was also the day that the social network chose to take a rather surprising measure, at least in the first place. One of the most exciting announcements last year was that of Spaces, the first and one of the most effective Clubhouse replicas, when it still seemed like a big threat to social media. Ticketed Spaces were shortly announced, i.e. payment spaces, which started operating a month later.

Although its use is not massive, the Spaces formula seems to have worked well since then, to the point that based on its implementation and the lessons learned, Twitter announced its intention to make a move to enter the podcast market a few months ago. , among which Spaces’ shelved recordings can find very good accommodation. This second youngster of the podcast has appreciated the audio format and the networks know it.

However, the experience with payment spaces was not so positive and as we can read in Yahoo! Finance, Twitter has decided to remove Ticketed Spaces. At the moment, the social network confirms that it is a break, which it describes as indefinite. However, even more so when we consider that its deployment has proven to be quite slow (it is not known how many accounts could have created these spaces, but it seems that there were quite a few), and that the profit margin obtained by social networks for the same, they predict a rather dark future.

However, with this change, we shouldn’t worry that Spaces are in danger. On the contrary, according to the social network, we will skip payment points will allow them to focus on improving “Basic experience with Spaces«, which prompts us to think that we can expect, if not in the short term, then in the medium term, an improvement in this function. However, and going back to the news of the day, and since this decision seems to have already been made in advance, we will have to wait and see if Musk decides to reverse once he is in charge of Twitter.
