According to a survey conducted by the Android Authority portal, every fifth Android smartphone owner has access to Root rights.

Root rights give the user access to all functions of the operating system. This capability is also often referred to as a “superuser”.

Thus, 19.7% of Android Authority readers surveyed said their smartphones have Root access. Users who supported this method noted such advantages as blocking system ads, recording calls, installing custom firmware and using extensive backup options.

At the same time, 77.4% of respondents said that they do not need Root rights. Many noted that modern versions of Android do not need the additional settings and “chips” that Root gives. Some do not use Root rights at all for security reasons.

Some respondents (2.9%) were unable to answer the question because they were not sure that their smartphones were “rooted”.
