Already there are only a few weeks left until the first GeForce RTX 4080 hits the market. As you may remember, in the end only models equipped with 16GB of RAM will do it, after NVIDIA made a smart, in my opinion, decision to cancel the launch of the GeForce RTX 4080 12GB, announced a few weeks earlier at the launch event of the next generation of technology graphics.
Its arrival on the market will take place on November 16, that is, in two and a half weeks, and the recommended price from NVIDIA is 1,469 euros, although we can certainly expect a series of models based on this reference design to add more elements that will raise their price. That it is more or less substantial is no longer so predictable, but given what happened with the RTX 4090, we shouldn’t be too surprised to find prices well above NVIDIA’s base design.
And in many cases it’s the “tweaks” of each model based on a common design that make the difference. Models specially designed for overclocking, solutions that integrate a liquid cooling system, designs with and without LEDs… manufacturers have a wide possibility to adapt their designs and thus compete in such a complex market, and that in the case of a high range, also has a limited range, because it is not a device within the reach of any pocket.
This explains to us that as the official launch date approaches, we are more and more interested in knowing the specific designs of each manufacturer, so we welcome every leak with open arms. This is the case with Videocardz, a company that managed to acquire first images of GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4080 EAGLE. A card that, as we could already imagine, has a design that many of those we could already envy with the RTX 4090 have little or nothing to envy. At the moment we don’t know the specifications of this model, but let’s remember the general NVIDIA ones:
GeForce RTX 4080 16GB | |
Plate-SKU | PG139-SKU360 |
Architecture | Ada (TSMC 4 nanometers) |
CUDA cores | 9,728 |
Implementation units | 76 |
maximum frequency | 2510 megahertz |
fundamental frequency | 2,210 megahertz |
Memory | 16GB GDDR6X |
memory bandwidth | 256 bits |
TGP by default | 320 watts |
maximum TGP | 516 watts |
connectors | 1x HDMI 2.1a, 3x DisplayPort 1.4a |
Feeding | 3 x 8-pin PCIe cable or 1 x 450W or more PCIe Gen 5 cable |
How could it be otherwise, we find a design that uses the three fans do not work symmetrically As you can see in the photo, the orientation of the blades of the central fan is opposite to that of the two side fans, which is a very efficient design that we have already seen in other models, and which substantially improves the inlet – outlet (cold-hot) flow, something crucial for proper function of a device with these characteristics. And if it looks familiar at first glance, there’s a reason for that, as it features the same 110mm fan design as the RTX 4090 Gaming OC cards.
We can check that too its size is much larger than what we can consider its predecessor, the RTX 3080 seriesWell, we find that it jumped to 3.5 slots. It is equipped with a 16-pin power connector and offers a port configuration consisting of three DisplayPort 1.4aa and one HDMI 2.1.
