After the release of version 100 of its browser, Google has released a new update for Chrome that removes the serious zero-day vulnerability that has been actively exploited by hackers.
According to a new security report released by the search giant, the company is aware of the existence of an exploit for this extremely serious vulnerability, which is tracked as CVE-2022-1364.
The bug itself is a vulnerability in the Chrome V8 JavaScript engine, and although such vulnerabilities often crash the browser after reading or writing out-of-buffer memory, cybercriminals can also use it to run malicious code on vulnerable systems.
The vulnerability was discovered by Clement Lecin of the Google Threat Analysis Team, who immediately reported it to the Google Chrome development team. The company said in its security statement that the details of the error and links “keep it private until most users get a fix update” .
