On Monday, October 31, China successfully launched the last module of the Tiangong space station.
This RFI is reported by Ukrinform reports.
Dubbed Mengtian, or “heaven’s dream,” the module is said to have been launched on a Long March 5B rocket from the Wenchang Launch Center on the tropical island of Hainan, China.
Chinese state broadcaster CCTV said amateur photographers watched the launch vehicle launch from a nearby beach at 3:27 p.m. local time.
Deng Hongqin, commander of the Wenchang Space Port, declared the launch a “complete success”.
“Based on the flight data of the Long March 5B launch vehicle and reliable calculations by the Beijing Aerospace Flight Control Center, the Mengtian space station’s experimental module has correctly entered the specified orbit and operating conditions are normal,” he added. .
Mengtian is the third and final major component of the T-shaped Tiangong space station, carrying a host of advanced scientific equipment into orbit, including the world’s first space-based cold atomic clock system.
“If successful, the cold atomic clocks will create the most accurate time and frequency system in space, which should not miss a single second in hundreds of millions of years,” said researcher Zhang Wei of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
It was stated that once the construction of the Tiangong space station is completed, it will be permanently deployed by teams of three astronauts to conduct scientific experiments and help test new technologies.
Tiangong, which means “heavenly palace”, will operate for about ten years and will conduct various experiments in near-zero gravity conditions.
As Ukrinform reported, in mid-October China launched a remote sensing satellite into space.
