American billionaire Elon Musk dissolved the board of directors immediately after acquiring Twitter and strengthened control over the company.
According to the Ukrinform correspondent, the BBC is writing this with reference to US Securities and Exchange Commission documents.
It is recorded that on October 27, Musk became the sole administrator of Twitter. “The nine executives dismissed include former chairman Bret Taylor and former executive director Parag Agrawal,” the article states.
According to the media, Twitter should expect significant layoffs soon, which could affect one in four employees.
The BBC adds that Democratic Senator Chris Murphy has asked the US government to review the implications of Musk’s national security decision because a large portion of Twitter is owned by companies affiliated with Saudi Arabia. “We should be concerned that the Saudis, who clearly have a vested interest in suppressing political speech and influencing US policy, are now the second-largest owners of a massive social media platform,” Murphy said.
As reported, Elon Musk on Thursday finalized the deal to buy the Twitter company for $44 billion.
