Kyivstar transfers 150 million to restore Ukraine’s digital infrastructure

The company’s press service informed Ukrinform about this.

According to the agreement with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Kyivstar committed to support the digitization of Ukraine and allocate 300 million UAH for this purpose. As the press service reminded, the memorandum was signed in July 2022 at the international conference of donors of Ukraine.

In turn, the Ministry of Statistics will ensure the most effective use of this aid in accordance with the key tasks defined by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy within the framework of the UNITED24 fundraising platform.

These tasks include the modernization and construction of Ukraine’s digital infrastructure, the strengthening of cyber protection and the fight against cyber threats, the further development of new digital technologies.

“Ukraine’s telecommunications infrastructure has suffered significant destruction due to a large-scale war. In particular, since February 2022, Kyivstar alone has faced 180,000 different emergencies and had to perform restoration and repair work on 7,000 base stations.” said Oleksandr Komarov, President of Kyivstar.

He emphasized that the company supports the state in restoring and strengthening the digital infrastructure as soon as possible, and therefore it is ready to be a reliable partner and investor in this regard.

According to the Ministry of Digitization, UAH 84.9 million has already been allocated to key digital transformation projects. It concerns the modernization and development of the main state registers of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine – the State Register of Property Rights and the State Register of Civil Status Laws, as well as the digital transformation of the notary public (e-notary). waybills (e-TTN).

As reported, Kyivstar is Ukraine’s largest electronic communications operator, serving 24.8 million mobile subscribers and more than 1.2 million “Home Internet” subscribers as of June 2022.

In 2022, Kyivstar paid more than UAH 5.9 billion in taxes and fees and invested almost UAH 1.7 billion in the restoration and construction of mobile communication networks in Ukraine.

The company also transferred more than UAH 104 million in relief funds for the humanitarian needs of the army, hospitals, the elderly and war victims. More than 563 million hryvnia of free service was provided to subscribers.
