The US Department of Defense confirmed that negotiations are ongoing, including with SpaceX and other manufacturers, on opportunities to meet Ukraine’s needs for satellite communications services.
Pentagon spokesman General Patrick Ryder said this during a briefing on Tuesday, according to Ukrinform’s own correspondent.
“We continue to discuss Ukraine’s satellite communications services needs with Ukraine itself and with companies like SpaceX and others,” said a representative from the US Department of Defense.
He said he could not yet disclose potential contracts or future arrangements.
At the same time, Ryder announced last Friday that it has delivered four Satcom-type antennas to Ukraine to meet the Pentagon’s satellite communications needs.
As Ukrinform reports, SpaceX founder Elon Musk said a week ago that he will not shut down satellite internet for Starlink terminals in Ukraine, even if the Pentagon refuses to fund it.
