A new leak reiterated the possible specifications of the Intel Core i5-13400, mid-range processor which will hit the market between the end of this year and the beginning of 2023 and seems to have everything to become one of the best in its class. This chip will be configured with 6 high-performance cores based on the Raptor Cove architecture and will also have 4 high-performance cores based on the Gracemont architecture.

If we compare it with Intel Core i5-12400, the differences are very clear because it has 6 high-performance cores based on the Golden Cove architecture and lacks high-performance cores. generally speaking Intel Core i5-13400 performance should be similar to Intel Core i5-12600K, a chip that has 6 Golden Cove cores and 4 Gracemont cores and that works at higher operating speeds.

The first performance tests point in this direction. As we can see in the attached image, the Intel Core i5-13400 achieves a score of 729.3 in the CPU-Z single-threaded test and 6,591.5 points in the multi-threaded test. This puts it just 6% below the Intel Core i5-12600K. This is a very good result, because according to the last information we saw, the Intel Core i5-13400 will have a working frequency of 2.5 GHz to 4.6 GHzwhile the Intel Core i5-12600K works on 3.7 GHz to 4.9 GHz

Another detail to keep in mind is the Intel Core i5-13400 It will be cooler and use less power than the Intel Core i5-12600K, as its TDP is fixed at 65 watts, while the “K” model has a TDP of 125 watts. With all this on the table, I think it is quite clear why we said that this new processor has everything to become one of the best in the mid-range.

We don’t have details on the retail price, but looking at what Intel did with the previous generation, I think the Intel Core i5-13400 will most likely be ranging from 200 to 250 euros. If everything we’ve said so far holds true, this chip will be a fantastic choice for affordable yet powerful gaming PCs, as well as setups focused on streaming and content creation on a budget.

Before finishing, I remind you that we will also see “F” version Intel Core i5-13400. This will disable the iGPU and make it cheaper than the stock version. As happened with the Intel Core i5-12400F at the time, it could become one of the best-selling processors of its generation thanks to its good price/performance ratio.
