Microblogging network Twitter is testing a new feature that will allow content writers to monetize video and get paid for watching videos. The innovation is called Paywalled Video, and there are videos that will only open after payment, the Washington Post writes, citing internal memos of the company’s employees.

You’ll have to pay $1, $25, or $10 to watch certain videos, and the network will take a commission on each sale, but the amount has not been disclosed. Payment will be made through the Stripe service. At the same time, those who have not paid to watch will only be able to like or retweet the recording. It is unknown whether it can be downloaded. As expected, the new product could launch in a week or two, but only 3 days are reserved for testing.

The source does not rule out that there may be problems with the operation of Paywalled Video due to the initial rush. There is also the assumption that it will allow distribution of 18+ materials on the network. Ultimately, this can cause copyright issues.

This is far from the only change on Twitter. Earlier, Elon Musk had decided to roll out a new version of his Twitter Blue subscription for $8 per month. It also allows you to add a blue verification checkmark to the account.
