In October of this year, we reported that Apple plans to release the 4th generation iPhone SE only in 2024.. At the time, sources mentioned that the device would be basically an “iPhone XR” in terms of design, betting on an already-familiar look and a more compact screen format.
With “another level” experience, focus on Apple Pencil, ProRes Video Capture and more.
Display market analyst Ross Young seems to have slightly different information.
According to a tweet posted exclusively to his Super Followers on Twitter, Young claims that Currently, Apple is considering several options for the iPhone SE 4, especially with regard to the screen of the smartphone.
The first point of hesitation seems to be related to size. Sources heard by Ross Young suggest that Apple is currently looking into screens from 5.7 to 6.1 inches – it is not clear if there will be a uniform sizeor even if the SE line will ride the wave of normal and max devices (with a larger screen size).
Another point of doubt concerns the technology used for the display. Traditionally, the iPhone SE line uses LCD panels, which are usually cheaper to produce. Nonetheless, replacement of OLED technology is already possible, albeit at a higher cost.
Despite uncertainty over display materials and dimensions, Yang supports the idea that the 4th generation iPhone SE will have a notch (notch at the top) in the screen to accommodate components such as the front-facing selfie camera and other sensors.
Again, We still don’t know if the new 2024 iPhone SE will feature FaceID. (something that would require a larger notch) or whether the device would opt for TouchID fingerprint recognition. If the second option comes true, it’s highly likely that Apple will eventually build the functionality into the smartphone on/off button, as it did with the new iPad.
For Brazilians, this is a reminder that we have the world’s most expensive iPad Pro and 10th generation iPad. See the article below for all the details.
