Sony has confirmed on its PlayStation blog that the PlayStation VR 2 will launch on February 22, 2023. The suggested retail price for the European market is 600 Euros. In addition to the headset itself, it comes with two Sense controllers and dedicated stereo headphones.
Also, the Horizon Call of the Mountain VR package is available for €650. Separately, the charging station for the Sense controller will cost buyers 50 euros.
Pre-orders will reportedly start as early as November 15, but only via PlayStation Direct. Interested customers can now register to place an order.
Compared to the first-generation PlayStation VR, the new headset should be lighter and more comfortable to wear, and image quality is significantly better thanks to two fast 120Hz OLED panels, each with a resolution of 2040×2000 pixels. Also, the headset is not backwards compatible with PlayStation VR 1 games.
Eye tracking allows you to show the areas the player is currently looking at in higher quality. Four cameras combined with motion sensors provide spatial tracking and vibration motors provide haptic feedback to the player.
