DJI presents its new Mavic 3 Classic drone

DJI has added the Mavic 3 Classic as a new member to its drone portfolio. The news of the sector leader is always interesting, even if it is not a completely new model, but variant of the current DJI Mavic 3.

The Mavic 3 Classic follows the growing trend of many electronics companies limiting some features or hardware in exchange for a lower price. Just today we saw it with the Huawei Pocket S foldable smartphone, a variant of the P50 Pocket from the same manufacturer. What’s new from DJI will be the same in drones.

The Mavic 3 happens to be the best consumer drone and with that in mind, it’s relatively easy to work on this base and specifically its cameras. The new “classic” version does not deploy a second telephoto lens for macro photography, but still repeats the Hasselblad L2D-20C main sensor specialized in aerial photography (4/3 24mm CMOS, with 84° field of view, f / 2.8 to f / 11 aperture and ISO ranges 100 – 6400 for videos and still images), which ensures a very good level of images.

For video, it offers several recording resolutions and frame rates, including 5.1K video up to 50 frames per second and 4K video up to 120 frames per second. Of course he has DJI ActiveTrack 5.0 technology for increased tracking capabilitiesusing signals from GPS, GLONASS and BeiDou satellites to improve performance.

This quadcopter has a maximum flight time (no wind). 46 minutes and a maximum hang time (no wind) of 40 minutes. It has a maximum climb rate of 6 m/s (P mode) or 8 m/s (high-performance “S” mode), and near sea level, with no wind, this drone can achieve a truly impressive maximum flight speed. 21 m/s.

The remote controller for the basic model is familiar from the previous model, but the higher version comes with a different and more advanced DJI RC PRO controller, which has its own 5.5-inch touch screen, which eliminates the need to use any smartphone. it works with a version of Android customized by DJI. It features OcuSync 3.0 (1080p 60fps) image transfer technology capable of running at a truly impressive length 15 km.

Summary. Very similar to the amazing Mavic 3, but cheaper due to the “cutouts”. Cheap doesn’t mean cheap, and the Mavic 3 Classic is still a premium drone for the price $1,469. And from there, if you buy additional remote control kits, additional batteries, a propeller kit, a car charger or a carry bag.

If you’re looking for something cheaper to start with, we recommend the Mini 3 Pro as a direct successor to the DJI Mini 2, which we thoroughly reviewed and had a great experience with.
