Late last year, Google unexpectedly announced that Google Play Games would be coming to Windows 10 and Windows 11. Then, earlier this year, a beta version of the solution arrived in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea, followed by a few more regions. . Google announced today that it has expanded this beta to eight more countries, including the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore.

This means that people in the above regions can go to a dedicated web page here to download a piece of software that will allow them to play up to 85 Android games directly on a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC. The solution is powered by Google Play, so you can easily sync your progress across devices . It’s interesting to note that Google’s solution is completely separate from Microsoft’s implementation of the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) in Windows 11.

There are also important differences between the two applications. Google says it’s not partnering with anyone like BlueStacks or Microsoft for this and it’s an in-house project. On the other hand, Microsoft is working with Amazon to bring Amazon Appstore apps to Windows 11 via WSA. Therefore, Microsoft’s solution is exclusive to Windows 11, while Google’s app serves both Windows 10 and Windows 11. Similarly, Amazon’s Appstore offers both apps and games, while Google’s app only offers games. The hardware requirements of the two solutions are also different.

But perhaps the main difference between the two apps is what potentially gives Google an edge. Its solution is powered by Google Play; This means you can earn Google Play points and achievements and seamlessly sync content across multiple devices. Microsoft’s WSA does not currently support Google Play.
