A major update has been released for WhatsApp Messenger. This is reported on the service’s official blog. One of the most important new functions was the introduction of “Communities”.

“Communities (for example, residents, parents of students at schools, colleagues at work) can now connect several groups at the same time, whose members have the opportunity to chat in groups on WhatsApp”, – the description of the function reads.

The user will be able to easily switch between different groups within the community and the administrators will get convenient tools to organize the posts. Related groups can be combined into one category and news for everyone is posted in a private chat with announcements.

In addition, the capacity of groups has been increased – now they serve up to 1024 people. In addition, 32 people can join the video call at the same time.

The WhatsApp update has already started to be distributed to users. The new features are expected to be available in all countries in the next few months.
