After a minor update to fix bugs in Firefox in Windows 11, Mozilla has released another update with more fixes. Version 106.0.4 is available for download from the Release channel which addresses media playback crashes.
According to the release notes found in the official documentation, Firefox 106.0.4 fixes a rare issue that causes crashes when playing DRM protected videos. Another crash may occur when users go to about:support and reset the device – 106.0.4 also fixes this bug. Finally, the latest version of Firefox will fix an issue with incorrect date-time input pattern when switching between types.
Here is the full changelog with links to bug fixes in Bugzilla:
Firefox will automatically install the latest version, but users can forcefully update the browser by going to Help > About Firefox. Alternatively, you can download and install Firefox 106.0.4 using the installer from the official website.
In case you missed it, Mozilla is considering expanding Firefox support in Windows 7. Microsoft will soon be ending a program that provides extended support for the 13-year-old operating system, and Chrome developers are also getting ready to abandon ship to allow Windows 7. sink forever. Mozilla seems to prefer to continue supporting its browser for a few more months as the Windows 7 audience remains relatively strong.
