That Hideo Kojima is today one of the key names in the gaming world It is something that does not admit of debate. Be careful, I’m not talking about rating their games better or worse, because for different tastes, and I understand that for many people the suggestion of Death Stranding, to mention only the latest, will be disturbing, to say the least. I personally quite liked it, and its subsequent Death Stranding Director’s Cut, while still wondering what stopped Kojima from releasing “his version” in the first place (remember, signed by his own studio Kojima Productions), made it even more appealing to many. .

But like I said, I’m not going to get into a debate about whether his games are good or bad, no, I’m talking about his presence and influence in the video game sector, and at this point it’s undeniable that he’s one of the voices that attract every launch bigger attention. And of course he knows it and doesn’t hesitate to use it, although sometimes he also likes to play clueless. Communication policy, nothing to say at this time.

Be that as it may, it is known that he has been working on a new project for quite some time (it couldn’t be otherwise) and it even leaked recently that originally this It was supposed to come exclusively to Google Stadia, but in the end the project was rejected by the online gaming platform, who believed that a title without a multiplayer mode was not interesting because it was a market without the necessary volume of business. I have nothing personal against Phil Harrison, who allegedly made this decision, but if he did, it adds another notch to an already long and grim list.

This explained to us the reason why Hideo Kojima quit Microsoft a few months ago and joined the technology company to develop, in his own words, «Something never seen before«. A statement that, combined with Kojima’s more than well-known interest in jumping into the cinema, alerts us that we can expect an even more “cinematic” experience than the aforementioned Death Stranding.

And now with a video posted by Insider Gaming, which has already been removed from their website, but is still (at the time of writing) on YouTube, a video that confirms Hideo Kojima’s statement after the release of Death Stranding, when he stated that he consumes a lot of horror movies. And it seems that although he intends to create something really new, which will be based on the technology of the Xbox Cloud, the desire to scare us will continue to be the same as always.

The video, without sound and shot with a screen recording, appears to feature Margaret Qualley, who starred in Kojima Productions’ debut game. It shows a character using a flashlight to move through dark corridors from a third-person perspective. The video ends with a proper scare just before Game Over is revealed, followed by “Hideo Kojima Game” and finally “OVERDOSE” which we can take to be the name of the game.
