The Matter smart home standard, supported by the CSA (Connectivity Standards Alliance), is now available. Last month, CSA began certifying products against the Matter 1.0 specification and now the new standard is ready for use. The presentation took place yesterday in Amsterdam with the support of nearly 200 products.

Amazon, Apple, Google and Samsung have made their smart home platforms compatible with Matter. In fact, Google Home and Samsung SmartThings are now fully integrated, meaning when you add a new Matter compatible smart home product to any of these apps.

Compatible with Samsung Galaxy phones, tablets and smartwatches Matter. Newer smart TVs and smart refrigerators are also Matter compatible. The company’s second- and third-generation SmartThings hubs will soon receive an OTA firmware update to ensure compatibility with Matter.

Amazon has announced Matter compatibility for Echo and Fire TV devices. Apple products running the latest operating systems are also compatible with Matter. Aqara, Eve, Nanoleaf, Philips Hue and other popular smart home product brands have started rolling out updates to make their devices compatible with Matter.

Matter currently supports air conditioners, protocol bridges, smart lighting, smart sockets, smart door locks, smart sensors, weather devices, smart blinds and video players. Support for other device types will be available soon, including carbon monoxide detectors, home appliances, presence detectors, security cameras, and smoke detectors. Source
