Fans of Sony Xperia phones have a lot to look forward to next year, as an alleged leak on a German Sony forum (via SumahoDigest) claims that at least six models are in the making. According to the report, the devices will use three different processors from Qualcomm. So there will be three models using Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, one using Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and two using Snapdragon 4 Gen 1.

However, since devices using SD Chip 4 Gen 1 may be the same phone but for different markets, these six models will form five different phone lines. Some deductive work has left Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 devices most likely Sony Xperia 1 V, Sony Xperia 5 V and possibly Sony Xperia PRO-II phone. Thus, the Sony Xperia 10 V will remain as a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 sports device.

As for the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, it has already been tied to a potential compact smartphone in the form of the Sony Xperia Ace IV, which is rumored to be gearing up for a global launch. There is a possibility that the Ace IV model will be only for the Japanese domestic market, and a slightly different model for the international market. It looks like the six model numbers will change from PM-142x-BV to PM-147x-BV.

According to a tip left on Weibo that includes a hashtag that reads “in-display fingerprint sensor,” at least one, if not all, of the aforementioned Sony Xperia smartphones could come with an in-display fingerprint scanner.

This is likely to receive a lot of confirmation from the Sony community, as Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 phones are often reported to have issues with the fingerprint sensor. Xperia devices often have this special feature built into the power button, so it would be rather strange for Sony to use an in-display/under-display fingerprint sensor for one or more members of the 2023 Xperia series.
