The company’s owner and CEO, Elon Musk, announced on Saturday that Twitter will soon have a feature that allows users to add long texts to their tweets. Musk didn’t say when the feature would arrive, but promised to “end the absurd screenshots from a notebook.” He added that the company also plans to work on additional tools to monetize all kinds of content and improve the platform’s search functionality: “Twitter search reminds me of Infoseek in 1998! And it’s about to get a lot better.”
After Musk made the announcement, NBC News reporter Ben Collins pointed out that before Musk was taken on board, Twitter was testing the mass text messaging feature: “Some employees are taking credit for a lot of work they did before they fired them. Earlier this year, Jane Manchun Wong, known for her experimental app features, announced that Twitter is working on an “Articles” feature for sending longer messages.
On Saturday, Twitter also began rolling out some of the infrastructure needed to support the updated Twitter Blue subscription. The service will allow users to pay $8 per month to verify their account and access a host of other features, including the ability to post longer videos and see fewer ads.
Elon Musk has promised Twitter will work to support creators, but has yet to share details on how the company plans to do so. In an interview with CNN, Elon Musk said that Twitter, which he bought for $ 44 billion, could be one of the most expensive in the world. He also changed his Twitter profile description to “Twitter Complaint Line Operator”.
