American tech company Apple has warned that iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max deliveries will dwindle due to coronavirus restrictions at the factory in China, where the majority of the company’s phones are produced.
This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to Apple’s statement.
It is stated that the company’s factory in Zhengzhou, where the iPhones are assembled, continues to operate but at “significantly reduced capacity” due to Covid restrictions.
“We continue to see high demand for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models. However, we now expect iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to be in less supply than previously anticipated, and customers will have to wait longer to receive their products.”
According to the BBC, China recorded 5,643 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, the highest daily number in six months.
In Zhengzhou is the Foxconn factory, the world’s largest factory for iPhone production. The city is the capital of Henan Province in central China, which is home to about 10 million people. Last week, coronavirus restrictions were introduced here. On Monday, 3,683 coronavirus cases and 22 deaths were recorded there.
Cases of COVID-19 were also detected at a Foxconn factory, causing the factory to shut down abruptly. Some employees refused to return to the factory, while others fled the business. On Monday, the company began recruiting staff at its Zhengzhou factory.
As reported, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max were unveiled at Apple’s launch event on September 7, 2022 at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, and are available to order on September 16.
