The two-stage Antares launch vehicle, developed with the participation of Ukraine, launched the Cygnus cargo transport ship carrying about 4 tons of NASA cargo for the International Space Station.

The launch vehicle was launched from the Space Flight Center on Wallops Island in the US state of Virginia at 1:32 p.m. on Monday.
Eight minutes later, Antares launched the Cygnus automated cargo transport vehicle into orbit with a NASA payload of 3,749 kg for the ISS.
NASA said the cargo included 1,637 kg of crew material, 850 kg of scientific equipment, 66 kg of spaceflight equipment, 1,077 kg of transport equipment and more.
The spacecraft is expected to dock with the ISS on Wednesday afternoon.
The launch was said to have been delayed one day due to a fire alarm at the Northrop Grumman Flight Control Center in Dallas, Virginia, causing the building to be evacuated.
