Gears of War undoubtedly is one of the most important Microsoft exclusives sagascourtesy, always, of Master Chief (not to be confused with the cooking show PLEASE), a saga that celebrates exactly today, as we commemorate 16 years since its worldwide release (although it debuted a few days earlier in some regions), on a day like today, November 7, but in 2006 in its Xbox 360 version (the Xbox One version debuted just a year later).

Since then, and counting the first of the series, there are six main series titles, to which we have to add others like Gears Tactics or the canceled Gears Of War Exile project that intended to bring the franchise to the Kinect ecosystem. So, with ups and downs, there is no doubt that Gears of War has left a more than evident mark on the sector and that it is therefore one of the references that must never be missed when talking about the most relevant gaming sagas.

Thus, and as a result of its success and celebration of its birthday, the saga received an unexpected but celebrated gift, because, as we can read in The Verge, Microsoft and Netflix have reached an agreement to produce the film the action lives and the adult-oriented Gears of War animated series. And if this first phase goes well, it will only be the beginning, as both companies plan to produce more content (although the format is unknown) based on the franchise. And yes, it is not the first time that a similar movement has been heard, but this time it has been confirmed.

There is no information, yes, no arguments, no data, so we might have to wait a little longer before it hits the Netflix grid. We know that Netflix is ​​working directly with The Coalition, the Xbox Games Studios directly responsible for the Gears of War franchise. It’s not a definite indication that the production will be able to transfer everything good from the games to the film and the series, but it’s at least a good sign in the sense that the two productions will be well connected in terms of plot. , in the context of the franchise (or at least it should be).

This new movement adds already several Netflix productions based on games. The most recent one is the quite successful Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners, inspired, not based on the CD Projekt RED game, but we must also remember Arcane, which brought to the audiovisual world one of the most successful games of recent years, League of Legends, as well as currently active projects such as a film based on BioShock and the Assassin’s Creed series, among others.
