The American shipbuilding company Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) presented the underwater unmanned vehicle Remus 620. HII plans to adapt its product line to the US Navy’s strategy in the field of unmanned systems, Breaking Defense says.
The underwater drone has a modular design that allows you to change the features of the device. The dimensions and autonomy of the aircraft will depend on the number of battery compartments installed. Three sections provide 110 hours of autonomous operation of the device. The Remus 620 also received two payload modules.
“This tool was designed from the ground up to meet UMAA requirements”Duane Fotheringham, Head of the HII Unmanned Systems Division, referred to the Navy’s Unmanned Maritime Autonomy Architecture, which aims to unify the fleet’s unmanned systems.
