One of the most anticipated announcements since the launch of Raptor Lake was the Intel NUC 13 Extreme, the annual proof presented by Intel that it is possible to create a really small big PC. This is not a big surprise to us, as both the Intel NUC 12 Extreme and the Intel NUC 11 Extreme have already made it clear to us that this ultra-compact computer has nothing to envy to a large part of desktop systems. which we normally use.

Let’s recall that this new generation was already shown less than a month ago, although many of its aspects remained to be revealed. Now the wait is over and all now we can take a good look at the guts an update to this set that is so special and has only gained more followers over the years.

First, of course, the question everyone is asking: what processors did Intel choose for its various “flavors” of the Intel NUC 13 Extreme? So there are options Core i5-13600K, Core i7-13700K and at the top a brand new top of the line, a Core i9-13900K. As you can see, the three options have the last name K, and that’s because Intel relied on the ability to overclock the new NUCs.

Here are the rest of the specs:

  • Dual channel DDR5-5600 MHz SODIMM support up to 64GB.
  • Support for new 12-inch graphics cards with three PCIe Gen5 x16 slots.
  • Support for up to three PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSDs (M.2 2280).
  • Intel 2.5GbE (i226-V) / 10GbE (AQC113) LAN.
  • Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E.
  • Two Thunderbolt 4 ports.
  • Six rear USB 3.2 Gen2 ports.

It’s true, yes, the Intel NUC 13 Extreme it’s not as small as Intel’s other previous designs, but we must understand that this is due, among other things, to the fact that the technology presents this NUC as a possibility to play (and it is not the first time that it does so) something that is of course conditioned by the need to use a graphics card, which is ultimately the component that it sets the standard in terms of minimums with respect to its size. And yet Intel claims that they have managed to deliver “stellar gaming performance in the format that is 70% smaller than a typical 50 liter gaming tower«.

We remember as always, yes, the Intel NUC 13 Extreme these are not complete computers, but assemblies that the user adjusts according to his needs by adding RAM and graphics adapter. There are two, with different specifications, kits that will hit the market, the Intel NUC 13 Extreme, which you can see in the image shown below the specifications, scares the top paragraph, and the Intel NUC 13 Extreme Compute Element, whose image You can see on top of this news and the fact that it does without the chassis and its elements found in the first model.

The new Intel NUC 13 Extreme will initially debut in the Chinese market, but is expected to roll out to other regions this quarter, in an expansion that will continue into early 2023.
