Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to serve as the “Information Access Center for the Elderly and Young People” to ensure that young people and citizens over the age of 65 adapt to social life.

ANKARA (IGFA) – Ankara Metropolitan Municipality; continues to undertake various projects so that the elderly can participate in social activities, spend their free time and actively spend their lives.

The Social Services Department is located in the Kırkpınar Underpass on Cinnah Street in Çankaya District. Information center for the elderly and young peoplecontinues to organize training and socio-cultural activities to ensure the adaptation of young people and citizens over 65 to social life.

In the center where 3 thousand 700 registered members and 1837 active members benefit; computer, photoshop, smartphone use, English, music and diction training are given. In addition, cultural tours and theater events are organized for members.

SERVES SIX DAYS A WEEK 09:00-17:00

Providing information about the center, which is open 6 days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sema Özsoy, the Department of Social Services for Seniors and Youth Access Center said: “We provide computer and internet training to young members, and smartphone, music, elocution, photoshop, computer and English training to over-65s. We serve 6 days a week between 09:00 and 17:00. We organize tours in and out of Ankara. We do everything we can to ensure that our members spend quality time here.” said.

The center’s computer trainer, Nazmiye Erciyas, said:

“I teach computer, smartphone, office programs, photoshop classes. Our members are very interested in learning technological devices and have learned to actively use them. They all enjoy coming here and lead active lives with social activities.”

Members over the age of 65 who participated in the training sessions at the center expressed their happiness by coming to the center with the following words:

-Armagan Hacışahbanoğlu: “Thanks to the social relationships, this place is like therapy for me. We go on trips, do social events, take music lessons. They make me feel like I’m here with my family. I thank the city for this service.”

-Ahmed Alan: “I didn’t know how to use social media, I learned that here. I am satisfied with all my teachers, they are friendly and helpful. I see the interest I expected here.”

– Lightning Ozbek: “I’m coming with my wife. We older teens were behind in keeping up with technology, but this place allows us to update ourselves.”
