Earlier this month, Sony announced that it plans to release the Android 13 OS update soon for the Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV smartphone models. However, while the company has not announced a launch date for this update, the major software update has already started rolling out to the flagship Xperia 1 IV.
Interestingly, the Japanese technology giant has not officially announced the release of the Android 13 update for these models. However, many Xperia 1 IV users have confirmed that the update is now available. The news came from the report XDADevelopersindicates that this update is now available in Europe. Although only the dual SIM version of the device is currently receiving this update.
The report also adds that the update is limited to certain carriers for now. Currently eligible operators include O2, EE and Altice. It also seems that the update is limited in terms of regional availability. Fortunately, as long as the new update doesn’t have some notable issues, we can safely assume that a wider release of the major update should be just around the corner. In addition to the latest version of Android, the company is also releasing a security patch from October 2022.
On the other hand, Sony did not specify that the Xperia 5 IV will receive an update anytime soon. That means all we can do is hope the Android 13 update arrives soon. So stay tuned as we’ll provide updates as more information on the subject becomes available.
