Chinese officials demonstrated a next-generation manned rocket model designed to land on the moon at one of the exhibition grounds of the 14th China International Aerospace Expo Airshow China 2022, held in Zhuhai.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by Xinhua.
The rocket, called “Changzhen-9”, has a take-off mass of 2.1 thousand tons and a length of 90 meters. It can lift 27 tons of payload into lunar orbit and 70 tons into Earth orbit.
The first manned mission using this rocket is expected to take place in 2027.
In addition to the piloted rocket, a model of a new launch vehicle with a large payload is also shown at the air show.
It will be able to carry payloads of up to 50 tons to Earth-Moon transit orbit, 35 tons to Mars transit orbit, and 150 tons to Earth orbit.
This launch vehicle is under development and is scheduled to launch around 2030.
As Ukrinform reports, a group of researchers from a number of Chinese universities has jointly created the world’s first map of moon rocks.
