AirDrop allows you to quickly share files such as images, documents or videos between Apple devices. The latest iOS 16.1.1 released on Wednesday limits the window in which users can receive files from contacts not in their contact list to ten minutes, while previous versions did not have a time limit.
He said the AirDrop feature was restricted on iPhones sold in China after protesters in the country began using it to distribute posters against Xi Jinping and the Chinese government.
Apple didn’t comment on why the change was made in China, but said it plans to roll out the new AirDrop setting globally next year. The company said the idea is to reduce unwanted file sharing.
