The reason was leaked by the French company a year ago, and it is the existence of the Steam Deck. This was bolstered by the relative success the console had in surpassing one million units shipped (which, depending on how the console is selling, should sell as well).

The French company’s possible return to Steam has been revealed following a project published on GitHub that traces the Ubisoft launcher’s launch code for bits and pieces of information that revealed alleged Steam versions of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Roller Champions. . Besides the relative success of the Steam Deck, another possible reason is that the growth of the Epic Games Store doesn’t make it such an exclusive place as in times past.
