The fact that Twitter will soon have the function of editing tweets is something that would have sounded like a sci-fi or even a joke a few weeks ago, because the social network itself joked about it last April. And even finally, the company made it clear that they were working on it, and they also made sure that the survey published by Elon Musk had nothing to do with the fact that they had been working on this position for quite some time.

We found out when we confirmed that the function is already on the way will debut in test mode for Twitter Blue users, so while we can begin to see this, it is possible that changes will occur later, based on the lessons learned from the testing phase. In other words, we will know more about its operation than we do now, but we will still have to wait for its final form and operation.

Be that as it may, we are starting to look at it a bit, and in this case we are grateful to Jane Manchun Wong, who has revealed a lot of interesting observations from Twitter in the past. And it’s because in tweetit assumes that Twitter would keep a history of editing tweetsand that it would also do so with a system specifically designed to ensure the consistency of revisions: the creation of a new tweet entity for each release.

This way, and while waiting for it to appear, Twitter will not allow you to edit the content of the message with the associated ID. Instead of, the edited text will be published in a new tweet which, yes, will be linked to the previous one as a reference to the issue of this. A system that seems quite logical because it would allow for a virtually infinite number of fixes that would be stored independently as messages, but would be concatenated.

Of course there is doubt whether the creators of the corrected tweets will somehow have access to some of those reports and thus the ability to delete the original but keep the correction. The question also arises as to whether all interactions of the original tweet will apply to the corrected version of the message. And it is so that only if the former is guaranteed would it make sense to apply the latter. Otherwise, I can imagine a legion of manipulators planning with it.
