That Remedy had among its plans Control 2, a sequel to the exceptional Control, should come as no surprise to anyone. And so it is that despite its weaknesses, mainly those of being a cross-generational title, its craftsmanship and plot and the challenge of its development ultimately made it one of the best releases of 2019, and one that continues to garner high praise. both for those who already played it at the time and for those who discovered it only recently.

Remedy already confirmed in August of last year that Control 2 was among its plans due to the company’s portfolio of projects at the time. In this document we could see two projects to the right of the control image: Condor, a spin-off of Control and «A bigger new game of Control«and the said image also indicated that this project will be implemented with the participation of 505 Games, promising plans, but we have not heard about it until now.

And it’s because having a title like Control 2 in your plans is something quite uncertain, because there are many stages that the complete development of a game goes through, from script to pre-production, to preparation, to runtime, to patch zero-day, practically simultaneously with the release of the game. And of course the advance it didn’t tell us what stage it was inleading us to think it was sometime before development began.

The good news is that, as we can read on the studio’s website, Remedy has confirmed that Control 2 is already in development. And as we expected from last year’s information, this phase, the most complex and time-consuming, is shared between Remedy and 505 Games. Probably, as we expected, it will be a continuation of the original Control, and in terms of its scope, the good news is confirmed: it will be exclusive to the new generation. Something that, of course, considering that it won’t be launched until 2025 at the earliest, makes perfect sense, as the previous generation’s life cycle should be over by then.

Maybe it’s not a good idea to start raising expectations so early, but in the absence of more information about the title and after thanking the success of the previous title, Mikael Kasurinen, the director of the Control franchise, has this to say about Control 2:

«With Control 2 we take another leap into the unknown. It will be an unexpected trip. It’s going to take some time, but to put it mildly, it’s the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. It’s still early, but the wait will be worth it.«
