Apple sued for overcharging iPhones and iPads

Apple and Amazon faced an antitrust lawsuit in the US as they conspired to raise the prices of iPhones and iPads. This was reported by the Reuters agency.

It is noted that Amazon, on Apple’s initiative, has removed the accounts of almost all iPhone and iPad sellers from its market. Because of this, the prices of Apple products on Amazon have increased by about 10%. Also, all discount offers on iPhone and iPad have disappeared from the market.

Plaintiffs claim that the new pricing policy is the result of a 2019 deal between Apple and Amazon. As part of the deal, Apple reduced the purchase price of its products for Amazon by 10% to remove suspicious sellers from the platform.

As a result, the number of stores offering Apple equipment on Amazon fell from 600 to seven. All remaining sellers are allegedly affiliated with Amazon.

The lawsuit was filed by Steven Floyd in federal court in Seattle. All US residents who have purchased new iPhone and iPad models on Amazon since 2019 are welcome to participate. Floyd is demanding triple damage from the victims. The nominal value of the compensation is not specified.
