Elon Musk’s SpaceX has launched two telecommunications satellites into orbit for the international satellite communications organization Intelsat.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by Space.com.
The launch of the Falcon 9 launch vehicle took place on Saturday evening from the spaceport in Florida, USA.
Intelsat’s two telecommunications satellites, Galaxy 31 and Galaxy 32, are said to be quite heavy, but Falcon 9 carried them into a distant geosynchronous orbit.
The satellites were placed in their planned orbits approximately 33 minutes and 38 minutes after launch.
Intelsat said the high-speed satellites represent a “next generation of technology” for customers that mostly include television companies.
Galaxy 31 and Galaxy 32 will replace older North America-based satellites in geosynchronous orbit, meaning they will always stay over the same area of Earth.
Saturday’s launch was the second Intelsat mission in just over a month for SpaceX to launch the Galaxy 33 and Galaxy 34 satellites using a Falcon 9 on Oct.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Chinese Yunhai-3 satellite successfully reached its intended orbit on Saturday.
