As The Information reports, citing its own sources, the American company Apple continues to develop a search engine that can rival the Google search engine, despite the diligence of many experts in this field. Several employees of Apple’s search team have reportedly left the company to join Google. This caused heavy losses to Apple.

The employees who left were the founders of Laserlike, which Apple acquired in 2018, according to The Information. Founded by three former Google Search engineers, Laserlike was a service that offered website recommendations to users based on their interests and browsing habits. Apple has reportedly acquired a company to improve the search features in Siri and Spotlight.

It has been rumored that Apple has been working on its own search engine for years, but the company itself has never confirmed this. Google pays Apple $18 billion to $20 billion each year to keep Google as the default search engine on iPhones and iPads.

Apple still has at least four years to launch a potential replacement for Google Search, according to a person close to the team. This will definitely require a significant increase in the team’s budget. Apple could also make a deal with Microsoft Bing, similar to what it did with Google, because Bing has a relatively small share of the search market. Information
