A new report has hinted that Apple is working on an interesting new project. While Meta (Facebook’s parent company) is aggressively pushing its Metaverse, the iPhone maker seems to be working on its own version of Metaverse as well.
As of now, most are waiting for the Cupertino-based giant to announce its long-awaited AR/VR-based headset, which will be the brand’s latest line of consumer electronics. However, its release is only rumors and the company has not yet announced a timeframe for the launch of this device. Although previous rumors hinted that the mixed reality headset will be released in the spring of 2023. But according to the words Mark Gurman of BloombergThe company does not plan to stop at the simple release of new hardware.
A new report claims that Apple has already started working on an entire “3D mixed reality world” and is currently in the process of recruiting talented people for the project. In other words, the brand is launching its own metaverse alternative to compete with Meta in the mixed reality world category. Also, Gurman based the news on Apple’s latest job postings. It seems that the company is working on its own version of Metaverse, which will be based on both virtual and augmented reality.
So the upcoming launch of an AR/VR headset could be the brand’s first step in that effort. Interestingly, search engine giant Google is also believed to be working on a mixed reality headset. That means all three US tech giants are entering the new future of mixed reality, which Tim Cook hints will be “the next big thing.”
