Twitter owner Elon Musk cut thousands of jobs and fired agency workers, including content moderators, without warning over the weekend.

This has been reported by The Independent with reference to Platformer, Ukrinform reports.

Twitter said it laid off about 4,400 of its 5,500 contract employees in total. The laid-off employees were part of the content control, software development, real estate, and marketing teams.

Twitter’s mass layoffs began a week ago. Platformer estimates that more than half of the company’s nearly 8,000 employees have been laid off so far.

The dismissal of contract workers is expected to have a significant impact on the content management of the microblogging platform and the core infrastructure services that keep the platform running.

As Ukrinform reported, previously Elon Musk had canceled the remote work mode for Twitter employees.
