Ian Boyd, an aerospace engineer and professor of aerospace engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder, said the new hypersonic systems could be a major challenge because of their full flight maneuverability. Since the trajectories of these missiles can change directly during flight, such structures need to be carefully monitored.

Another important issue is that the new weapons will fly higher than slower subsonic missiles and lower than intercontinental ballistic missiles. So far, there is no effective way to track these missiles in this region of the atmosphere.

But what does hyper-sound mean? And how fast can such devices evolve? In general, if a car is called hypersonic, it can develop a speed of 5633 km / h, or about 1.6 km / h and above. At the same time, all models of intercontinental ballistic missiles in the nuclear arsenals of all countries of the world are hypersonic: they can fly at a maximum speed of about 24,140 km / h or about 6.4 km / h.

Hypersonic missiles are not as fast as intercontinental ballistic missiles, but they can change trajectory.

The main reason why countries around the world are trying to create a new generation of hypersonic weapons is that it is difficult to defend against such missiles. This is due to the speed, maneuverability and trajectory of these missiles.
