The Block 4 package, which will cost the US military $15 billion, includes 75 upgrades to the aircraft. The F-35 will receive the Technology Refresh-3 CPU update. It was noted that the power of Technology Refresh-2 is not enough to work with modern equipment.
The modernization of each military aircraft will take 14 days. Technology Refresh-3 will make it easier to install hardware and software upgrades on the F-35. All US F-35s can receive the Block 4 upgrade package until MY2029.
“Block 4 will allow better integration of new weapons and improve the aircraft’s combat control system. This creates a more reliable targeting system that will detect and track a greater number of approaching enemy warplanes and missiles.”– writes the publication.
