It’s no secret that the acceptance rate of Windows 11 is slower than that of Windows 10, but what we couldn’t imagine is that the operating system is still in the professional sector did not surpass Windows XP. This is confirmed by a recent study conducted on more than 10 million professional facilities and which we can see perfectly in the attached chart.
According to the study, which is frankly one of the most reliable we can find today, because, as we expected, it was performed directly on a total of 10 million computers, Windows 10 leads with a share of 80.34%, followed by Windows Server in various versions and Windows 7 in third place. The fourth place belongs to Windows 8 with a share of 1.99% and the top five is closed by Windows XP with 1.71%.
To give you an idea of the importance of this study, I remind you that data from AdDuplex, one of the most consulted companies for evaluating the acceptance rate of various operating systems, including Windows 11, uses information from only 60,000 computers. The difference is huge, which is why this study deserves so much attention, even if it is limited to the professional sector.
Windows 11 in the mainstream consumer market: Steam confirms the trend

Steam’s monthly hardware and software survey is also one of the most reliable sources we can look at, and the slowdown in Windows 11 adoption was confirmed by March data. in February 2022 it increased by 2.03%.while in March this year reported growth only 1.25%. The data for April, which will be available from May, will be interesting.
If we talk about the total, in March 2022 Windows 11 gained a share of 16.84% on Steam, a number that is still far from 74.69% of registered Windows 10. Personally, I think this operating system could become the new Windows XPwhich we expected from Windows 7, but in the end it was not met due to the low demands of Windows 10 and the possibility of a free upgrade to the operating system.
In the case of Windows 10, we have a different situation. It is true that we can also upgrade to Windows 11 for free, but the demands on the latter are very highand have become a glass ceiling for many users who have powerful and perfectly capable computers, but which do not meet the minimum requirements of Windows 11. In this sense, the most important and limiting chip are TPM 2.0 resp. limited support for Zen + or Coffee Lake processors.
On the other hand, we must also take into account that Windows 11 does not bring really important news compared to Windows 10 and that the interface change introduced by Microsoft did not appeal to everyone. To the above, we need to add a performance issue, namely that Windows 11 does not work well on a computer configured with 4 GB of RAM, but Windows 10 offers a good experience on a computer with so much RAM.
It is clear that in the end Windows 11 affected by several key factorsand that they will have a negative impact on their acceptance rate in the coming years.
