We have previously reported on several features hidden in the latest Windows 11 build 25247. However, the latest update continues to yield results and users notice that the update includes a new VPN indicator in the notification area, allowing you to quickly check if you have this update. PC is connected to a VPN.
It’s worth noting that the current state of the function looks like it’s half-baked. You may only notice the new VPN indicator when using a wired connection – not pleasant for those using Wi-Fi. Another major limitation is that the operating system cannot recognize third-party VPN apps, so if you access the VPN using a dedicated app, the network indicator remains unchanged.
To see the new indicator in action, you must manually configure your VPN connection in the Settings app. Some VPN services provide instructions for connecting using Windows’ built-in networking tools, so you should visit your provider’s website for further instructions.
The updated network icon in Windows 11, build 25247, is still a work in progress, so wait for Microsoft to tweak it a bit (like adding Wi-Fi support) before releasing it to Windows Insiders. If standby is unavailable, use ViveTool to force it. Source
