While traditional speakers are big and heavy due to components such as the voice coil, cone and magnet, the Slim Actuator Sound Solution is extremely thin and light thanks to LG’s film-type screen excitation technology. The company’s unique technology allows the device to vibrate through display panels and various materials inside the car body to provide rich, immersive 3D sound.

The Slim Actuator Sound Solution comes in passport size (150mm x 90mm), 2.5mm thick, the equivalent of the thickness of two coins stacked together, and a lightweight 40g at only 30 percent and 10 percent of the weight. the thickness of a conventional car speaker.

Its compact size and innovative form factor allow it to be fitted in various parts of the vehicle, such as the instrument panel, headliner, pillars and headrests, while eliminating deviations in sound quality for passengers inside. The built-in design of the unit not only removes the speaker grilles, but also improves space efficiency by freeing up the space normally occupied by car speakers without sacrificing sound quality.

In addition, LG Display has made the speaker more environmentally friendly by eliminating the use of rare earth elements such as neodymium (Nd), which is commonly used in traditional speakers. The Thin Actuator audio solution received the CES® 2023 Innovation Award (In-Car Entertainment and Safety category) from the Consumer Technology Association for its space-saving, innovative design, innovative sound and environmental sustainability.
