SpaceX will use a Falcon 9 rocket to launch the Eutelsat 10B mission on behalf of Eutelsat at 21:57 ET (Tuesday, November 22, 02:57 GMT) on Monday, November 21. About 15 minutes before launch, there will be a live stream on Space.com thanks to SpaceX.

The mission launches from the Space Force Station at Cape Canaveral off the Florida coast; The first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket is expected to contact a nearby drone stationed in the Atlantic Ocean about 10 minutes after launch. According to SpaceX, this will be the 11th launch of Falcon 9’s first stage.

When launched, Eutelsat 10B will be placed in a geostationary transit orbit to work its way into a geosynchronous orbit, meaning it will orbit the Earth constantly facing a portion of the planet below. Eutelsat said the Eutelsat 10B will carry a high-bandwidth Ku-band payload in “the busiest air and maritime traffic areas” over the North Atlantic, Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. A second Ku-band payload will be available for missions to the Atlantic Ocean, Africa and the Indian Ocean.

Eutelsat officials said the satellite also carries two broadband payloads in the C- and Ku-bands for existing customers on the Eutelsat 10A. The new satellite will replace the 12-year-old Eutelsat 10A, which is expected to cease operations in 2023 for customers in the Americas and Asia.
