It Takes Two is a 90+ award winning game from EA and Hazelight, which include The Game Awards’ Game of the Year and DICE’s Game of the Year. It launched in 2021 for PS4, PC, XBOX ONE, XBOX XS, PS5 and this month. has been optimized for Nintendo Switch by Turn Me Up Games.
It Takes Two is a fun game that lets you and another person play the role of Cody and Maya, two people who have been turned into dolls and will have to face challenges and defeat enemies to become human again.
We had the opportunity to analyze the Nintendo Switch version of It Takes Two, A 3D and co-op platformer that we really enjoyed, so we’ll leave our conclusions here.
If you haven’t played this title on PS4 or other versions, here’s a quick summary: It Takes Two tells us the charming story of May and Cody, a couple on the verge of divorce, but magically end up trapped in the bodies of a pair of dolls. When they wake up in their new bodies, they encounter Dr. Hakim, a magical book that has adventures in store for you very fun and that completing them will help them overcome their differences and restore the spark of love that exists between them.
The characters will have to explore their own house and surroundings, which will remind us “Honey, I shrunk the children”, and they will face missions such as jumping between cardboard boxes, skating, sliding down rails, penetrating pipes, solving puzzles, working as a team to overcome various obstacles and confronting different bad guys to pass the level.
Players will be able to immerse themselves in the exciting co-op adventure It Takes Two with two pairs of Joy-Cons; it means to play each person will need to have a left and right Joy-Con. Additionally, we have the option to play locally or online, which will allow us to play with another person we have on our Nintendo Switch friends list. And let’s not forget too we can use Friend Pass to invite a friend to play for free even if they don’t have the game.
First say that lThe controls are what makes this game stand out. The controls are precise, something essential to overcome all the obstacles and missions that are thrown at us in the game. Also, the development and storytelling are spectacular, things that encourage us to continue in the game to know what awaits us in the next mission. Have you ever thought about taking on an angry vacuum cleaner and a toolbox and even battled squirrels or a “giant” wasp?…the list goes on.
another interesting detail in It Takes Two is that in addition to the main quests, we find minigames throughout our adventure. Most of them are very simple and you can just skip them and it won’t affect the main story at all. But if you want to relax for 5 minutes, you could play them.
It takes two It’s a game that everyone can enjoy, because it does not have a demanding level of difficulty; so much so that your characters’ “deaths” and falls aren’t penalized, but that doesn’t take away from its awesomeness. Additionally, as we told you earlier, the game has mechanics in which We will have to work as a team. For example, to get through certain obstacles characters will have tools like a hammer head and flying nails, and later in the adventure they will have a sage gun and a match gun for Cody and May.
The Nintendo Switch version of It Takes Two has its positives… and its negatives. The pros are mainly that thanks to this version we can play anytime and anywhere. Moreover, the novelty of this work is that iIncludes new voices in Japanese, French, German and Spanish, plus subtitles in multiple languages.
And what are the negative points? The first would be that we can carry the game “in our pocket” thanks to the Nintendo Switch, but at the same time it is true that it is not very comfortable to play on such a small screen and that it will have to be split in half so that both players can visualize the movements of their characters. Also, we will need to have two pairs of Joy-Con which we think would spoil the player experience a bit; a real mistake if we don’t have four controls at hand at that moment.
Finally, the last negative point refers visual victims that had to be done to get It Takes Two to the Switch. The graphics are worse compared to the versions of the game on other consoles. This is understandable, as the idea was that the game would run excellently in this version.
It Takes Two is still a great game, it won over 90 awards for good reason. This is a cooperative game, thanks to which you can have fun with a friend or partner.
