In 2014, the launch of Google Assistant gave us proactive cards On our Android devices, with a new section that shows us information that might be of interest to us, such as the results of our favorite teams, stock prices, traffic conditions, our orders… In 2017, Google Now was turned off. Google Feed, which is very similar but also shows news. Then in 2018 Google Feed was split into two: google explore for the news and “Day View” for what was once Google Assistant, but Google Assistant’s latest heir shut down last April.

It seems Google Assistant resisting death and that’s Google is integrating some of these proactive cards back into Google Discoveralso in the ‘At a Glance’ widget as we will see below.

These are the new proactive cards from Google Discover.

The only proactive card ever to survive google explore it happened the weather forecast. Just below the search bar appears the weather at our current location, usually now with a new long card design.

Well, it won’t be the only time card to appear in your Google Discover, because after months of testing in English, two new proactive cards have been activated in the Spanish version of the app: sports Y financewas in the previously defunct “Day View”.

As we see in the screenshots, google explore able to show up to three proactive cards just below the search bar, right at the beginning of the news feed. The cards will be displayed as follows: horizontal carouseland they appear in order of importance, so their position will change throughout the day.

The following option appears to the right of the carousel: personalize, where the user can decide which cards they want to appear at the top of Google Discover. The cards currently available are:

  • Weather: to see the weather forecast for your actual location.
  • Sports: To see news of teams you follow, such as results or upcoming matches.
  • Finance: to see stock prices and market trends for the industries you follow.

With this customization, we can choose to see only one card, two cards, or three cards in its expanded size. The larger the card, the more information we see. For example, on the mini-card of the upcoming matches we will see only the flags of the teams, while on the big card we will see the initials of the countries next to the date and time of the match.

By clicking on each card we will access all its information and with a long press we can stop seeing information about a particular team or company in the excerpt along with direct access to better manage our interests, so we can see sports and financial cards that really help. interest us.
