Apple will drop the physical control buttons on future smartphones. This was reported by MacRumors.
Media reporters examined the letter that Cirrus Logic, one of Apple’s suppliers, wrote to its shareholders. The document said the firm will “engage with a strategic customer” and produce HPMS components for smartphones. According to Barclays analysts Blaine Curtis and Tom O’Malley, Cirrus Logic aims to provide Apple’s smartphone drivers for haptic feedback.
Experts explained that such components will be associated with the appearance of touch buttons on the iPhone. They will replace the volume control and device activation items located on the side of the gadget. With the help of Taptic Engine mechanisms, the smartphone will respond to pressing with haptic feedback, simulating interactions with real buttons.
“The biggest change to next year’s new iPhone models will be the removal of buttons”, the authors concluded. According to Barclays experts, the new management system will appear on the most expensive smartphones, namely the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.
