Elon Musk offers amnesty to those banned from Twitter

Elon Musk continues to deliver on what’s expected of him, and after restoring Donald Trump’s Twitter account, he’s now offering general amnesty for all banned users for violating the rules of the social network. O.

More or less because the new owner of Twitter set two conditions for the return to be effective, both of which are in line with what he himself stated before and during the acquisition of Twitter: that there is no violation of the law and no spam. Anyone banned who wasn’t banned for one of these two reasons will be able to claim their account back starting next week.

Musk thus decided, as with the return of Trump, by a “popular vote”, that is, by following the results of a survey that he himself published on Twitter. Unlike the case of the former president of the United States, yes, the number of participants was significantly lower, but the yes in favor of the decision was much larger.

Of course, the results of the polls that Elon Musk publishes on the platform he controls, with questions where his position is more than known, are reliable, you have to believe it. But because it cannot be proven that there is a fraud in which the South African billionaire and the richest man in the world is hiding.

There’s also the question—just as Musk has been saying all day that Twitter is better than ever— a loss of users that the current design might well help mitigate, given that many of those excluded are highly followed figures with large followings. And yes, there are those on the far right, but also on the far left… and certainly a whole lot of crazy people.

Be that as it may, the amnesty is a firm promise from Chief Twit himself, and while all sorts of characters may benefit from it, it falls within what Musk himself declared before he took control of the social network: that the limits of what can be said, that this is determined by the law and not by the interpretation of the censor in service.

This is not to say that there are no rules on Twitter that should not be respected, such as rules against insults or harassment; but voicing controversial issues of a political nature should not be a reason for exclusion due to the sensitivity of its reading, not to mention when it comes at the expense of citizens, see the case of silencing a political leader like Donald Trump, excluded while he was still president.
